Our domes are insulated well above the industry standard. Their unique shape promotes excellent air circulation keeping temperatures comfortable throughout your dome all year round, making them two to four times more energy efficient than traditional structures.
From a pure engineering perspective, geodesic domes are superior to square homes. They are the only man-made structure that actually gets proportionally stronger as they increase in size.
They are lighter, more structurally sound, and require fewer materials making them more sustainable to construct, geodesic domes just make a lot of sense.
Simply due to their shape, domes are more energy efficient as sunlight actually refracts and stays inside the dome, domes can take full advantage of solar gain, reducing the need for artificial lighting and heating in the winter due to our thoughtful placement of windows; making our domes perfect for anyone who wants a sustainable home.
Compared to conventional structures, domes more easily resist extreme weather, which is sadly more present today than ever.
The dome shape is excellent at shedding elements such as heavy snow and wind, domes have even withstood hurricane-force winds because they have less flat surfaces and a semi-spherical form, allowing wind to easily move around them.
They've even been known to survive flying debris as large as cars!
Dome homes hold up better to strong earthquakes too thanks to being constructed with nature strongest geometric shape - the triangle.
Cork comes from the outer bark layer of the Cork Oak tree, found in and around the Mediterranean, Portugal is home to just over a third of the world’s cork forests, with Spain at around 27%.
The sustainability credentials of cork are obvious.
It comes from a naturally occurring tree which is abundant across the Mediterranean.
Trees aren't cut down to harvest cork meaning up to 30 harvests can be made during their lifetime.
Our cork isn't treated with any toxic products to make it water repellent and fire resistant.
It is lightweight which makes transport easy and the trees on which it grows actually absorb more CO² once harvested than if simply left to grow. All of which makes cork one of the most sustainable materials on the planet which is why we chose it as the finish on our dome projects.
We work with SuberLEV's high quality projected cork products to weatherproof our domes because they:
Regulate your domes temperature, working as a thermal corrective by reducing thermal bridges in façades and walls.
Provide acoustic protection, helping to minimise impact, traffic and external air noises. With sound absorption properties coefficient (of acoustic materials) according to NP EN ISO 354. Allowing perfect tranquillity inside your dome.
Prevent micro-fissures due to its high flexibility enabling it to absorb structural tensions - stopping the appearance of micro-cracks giving you the peace of mind to enjoy your amazing space.
Have a wide range of nature-inspired tones that blend perfectly into surrounding spaces as well as more vibrant shades.
Are wear resistant so the colours maintain their vibrancy and durability under the most demanding weather conditions.
Have a uniform textured finish ensuring a smooth and homogeneous application, enhancing the visual and tactile quality of the coating.
Manufactured with high-quality materials and cutting-edge technology, SuberLEV insulation guarantees exceptional resistance to adverse weather conditions and the passage of time, making them virtually maintenance free. Our cork finishes offer exceptional performance in reducing heat and cold losses , contributing to the energy efficiency of our domes.
We are committed to protecting the environment, which is why we use products designed to minimise their ecological impact, using recyclable materials and sustainable manufacturing processes.
